The champions are crowned!
Congratulations to The Ohio State University Buckeyes, who capped off an improbable postseason run with their third straight upset victory, this time decimating the Oregon Ducks, 42-20, last night in the inaugural Division I College Football Playoff National Championship in Arlington, Texas.
With 246 rushing yards and four touchdowns, running back Ezekiel Elliot outscored the Ducks by himself. The Buckeye defense frustrated a potent Oregon offense led by Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota.
The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences recognizes the historic achievement. A free celebration in Ohio Stadium is planned for Saturday, Jan. 24. More on the game and ensuing celebrations can be found here.
Off the field, Ohio State also won decisively in the Bucks vs. Ducks National Championship Giving Challenge, a head-to-head competition to see who can rally the most donors to their university over the past five days. That generosity will send students to school, improve patients’ lives, create groundbreaking research, and so much more.
Even though the giving competition has ended, making a donation is still a great way to celebrate the championship. Go Bucks!
