As the current Academic Year Representatives of the CFAES Alumni Society, we are reaching out to ask you to consider joining us on the board, to represent the 2021–22 academic year.
The mission of the board is to plan for and initiate programs, events, and activities for the larger CFAES alumni community. The board serves as the voice of CFAES alumni with The Ohio State University Alumni Association; with the college’s and the university’s administration; and with leaders of the food, agricultural, and environmental industries in Ohio.
The board is accepting applications for the 2021–22 Academic Year Representative through Wednesday, June 8.
Requirements are as follows:
- Attend meetings either in person or virtually (four meetings a year and an annual retreat).
- Plan and promote the mission of the CFAES Alumni Society.
- Serve a three-year term (beginning July 1 of your elected year and concluding three years later on June 30).
- Become a Sustaining Member of The Ohio State University Alumni Society, meaning you are waived from any form of donation for the first year after your graduation. After that, you will be required to pay a $75 annual donation to any Ohio State fund.

“As a student, I Ioved being involved with campus organizations and initiatives. It was the highlight of my undergraduate experience. I chose to apply to the CFAES Alumni Society board as a way to stay engaged and give back to the campus community that was so integral to my time at Ohio State.”
—Marie McConnell, BS ’19 Environmental Policy and Decision Making, 2018–19 Academic Year Representative

“I was filled with excitement and a fair dose of nerves about life after college as graduation approached. As my world quickly became a sea of new adventures post-graduation, staying engaged with CFAES as a young alum created a sense of familiarity and connection.”
—Mary Klopfenstein, BS ’20 Agribusiness and Applied Economics, 2019–20 Academic Year Representative

“Being a fresh graduate, I quickly noticed a void in my schedule where student organizations once held much of my time as an undergraduate. I quickly realized volunteering my time as an alum through the board and other organizations could fill that void. I have so far enjoyed my time on the board and encourage young alumni to get involved while you have the time.”
—Bailey Eberhart, BS ’20 Agribusiness and Applied Economics, 2020–21 Academic Year Representative
